2024 Oaxaca State
This most recent trip to Mexico was a departure from what I usually capture: videography of artists working. On this trip I wanted to just photograph in B/W. Close to where I stayed in Oaxaca City is the Manuel Alvaro Bravo Gallery, the largest library of photography I have ever visited. I made frequent trips to this library, which energized a reconnection and fervor in film. I wandered small villages, the forgotten corners, photographing cactus, junk, forgotten corners of the world. I photographed with in the city, showing how nature envelops 400 year-old mud brick walls. Buildings become not the subject, but a palette to which to paint.
